Father facing Wanton Endangerment charge in Laurel County


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Sgt. Larry Parrott arrested Micheal S. McCormick age 32 of Terrell Rd., Corbin early Saturday morning June 18, 2016 at approximately 2:22 AM.

The arrest occurred on US 25 approximately 8 miles south of London after Sgt. Parrott observed a maroon colored Chevrolet Suburban pull onto South Highway 25 from a side road without stopping.

A traffic stop was conducted where Sgt. Parrott learned from the driver that his license was suspended. Upon further investigation on the driver, Sgt. Parrott determined that the driver was under the influence. Sgt. Parrott learned that the driver had smoked marijuana taken Percocet and Suboxone. Sgt. Parrott found the driver in possession of a marijuana joint, and an unopened Suboxone strip package.

In addition the driver had his 2 male children ages 9 and 12 in the backseat.

Micheal S. McCormick was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence -2nd offense; operating on suspended or revoked operators license; possession of marijuana; prescription controlled substances not in proper container – first offense; wanton endangerment – second degree; and failure of owner to maintain required insurance – first offense.

Micheal S. McCormick was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
