Complaint of suspicious subjects trying to pawn items in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Sgt. Larry Parrott along with Deputy Brandon Broughton and Bailiff Brad Mink arrested two individuals off North Laurel Rd., approximately 1 mile north of London on Thursday afternoon June 16, 2016 at approximately 3:16 PM after being dispatched to a complaint from a business there that two suspicious subjects were there trying to pawn items.

When deputies arrived at the scene they located the two subjects, one subject that had driven a black colored Nissan Xterra and the other the passenger. The two individuals there gave deputies false names initially but later gave their correct names. The passenger gave his brother's name and it was determined that his brother had outstanding warrants. Deputies determined after he gave his correct name that he, too, had outstanding warrants also.

Deputies also determined that both individuals were under the influence. The driver admitted to taking Suboxone.

The two individuals arrested were identified as:

Christopher Hart age 25 of Keavy Rd., London charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; no operator's license; giving officer a false name or address; and numerous other traffic violations.

Johnny Bowling age 39 of Keavy Rd., London charged with public intoxication – controlled substances and giving officer a false name or address. In addition, wanted out of the state of Indiana on a probation violation on a charge of felony receiving stolen property - wanted by the Floyd County Sheriff's office in Indiana, a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court on charges of theft by unlawful taking and contempt of court, a Laurel County warrant of arrest obtained by Sgt. Josh Gaylor of the Laurel County Sheriff's office charging receiving stolen property – allegedly this subject brought to ladders to a local pawn shop in exchange for cash – the ladders were allegedly stolen from a neighbor and have been identified and recovered, a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of driving on DUI suspended license – first offense.

A third individual who was John Bowling's brother and was already in the Laurel County detention Center was charged on an outstanding bench warrant of arrest and is identified as Richard Bowling age 37 of Keavy Road, London charged with failure to appear in court on charges of two counts of theft by deception.

All three individuals are lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
