Social Services called during Wanton Endangerment arrest in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Brandon Broughton arrested Crystal Johnson age 34 of Glenview Rd., London on Sunday evening June 26, 2016 at approximately 6:23 PM.

The arrest occurred off Glenview Road, approximately 1 mile north of London after Deputy Broughton was dispatched to a complaint that a female subject was allegedly passed out behind the wheel of her vehicle in her driveway and that two young male juveniles were left unattended. The two small boys ages six and seven years old were screaming trying to get this subject to wake up and then the kids apparently ran toward North US 25 where traffic is often times very heavy.

This subject's mother who lives nearby apparently saw the kids running toward the roadway when she stopped them and came to the residence to check on the children's mother. The mother was apparently passed out and when she came to she did not know where she was.

Deputies noted that this subject had very slurred speech and was unsteady on her feet and had pinpoint pupils and admitted taking prescribed medication and drinking alcohol.

Social Services was called to the scene and placed the children with their father pending further investigation.

Crystal Johnson was charged with wanton endangerment – second-degree and public intoxication – controlled substances and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
