London, Ky. (July 20, 2016) – On Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at approximately 1:30 AM, Kentucky State Police Post 11, London received a report of a two vehicle collision on US HWY 27 in the Whitley City community of McCreary County.
Upon arrival, Trooper Wendell Higginbotham determined that a 2003 Chevrolet minivan operated by Tracey L. Byler, 29, of Monticello was traveling northbound on US HWY 27 when she rear-ended a 2013 moped which was also traveling northbound operated by David F. Jackson, 46, of Stearns.
Jackson, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he later died of his injuries.
No drug or alcohol usage is suspected.
Trooper Higginbotham is continuing the investigation. He was assisted at the scene by the McCreary County Sheriff’s Office, Whitley City Fire Department and Whitley City EMS.
