Impersonating a Peace Officer arrest in Laurel County

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Tommy Houston along with Sgt. Larry Parrott arrested James Lorman age 46 of Highway 3434, East Bernstadt early Tuesday morning July 26, 2016 at approximately 12:04 AM.

The arrest occurred off Glenview Road, approximately 2 miles north of London after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that a male subject was knocking on the door of a residence there identifying himself as a US Marshal and stating that he needed to speak to a female subject at a residence nearby. He further stated that he needed to complete a drug test on the female subject because the electric was out.

When deputies arrived at the scene they noted that the subject had a handgun in close proximity but had no identification showing that he was in fact a US Marshal.

Deputies determined that this subject was not a law enforcement officer and arrested him.

While en route to the Sheriff's office, this subject began to complain of chest pains and deputies had Laurel County EMS to meet at the Sheriff's office to triage this subject. EMS determined this subject was not having a medical event.

When the subject was asked to step out of the police cruiser he began to resist deputies and scuffled with deputies and cursed deputies creating a disturbance there.

James Lorman was charged with impersonating a peace officer; resisting arrest; disorderly conduct – second degree; and menacing and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
