KSP Charges Perry Co. Man With Child Sexual Exploitation Offenses


(Hazard, Ky.) — On July 28, 2016, at approximately 9:00 p.m., the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, assisted by Post 13-Hazard, arrested Donald L. Gilbert, 51, on charges related to possession and distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor.

Gilbert was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The KSP Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after discovering the suspect sharing an image of child sexual exploitation on a popular chat service.

The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at Mr. Gilbert’s residence on July 28, 2016. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to KSP’s forensic laboratory for examination. The investigation is ongoing.

Gilbert is currently charged with five counts of possession and one count of distribution of matter portraying a sex performance by a minor. Each charge is a Class-D felony punishable by one to five years in prison. Additional charges are expected.

Gilbert was lodged in the Kentucky River Regional Jail.
