Man opens fire on two LSO deputies


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Rick Cloyd and Deputy Brandon Broughton arrested a Lily resident on Thursday night August 4, 2016 at approximately 10:30 PM.

Arrested was Terry Collier age 45 of Slate Ridge Rd., Lily, KY.

The arrest occurred after deputies were dispatched to a complaint that a male subject was threatening to kill himself and anyone who tried to stop him including law enforcement.

When deputies arrived at the scene he told them he would kill them and he ran from the residence firing two rounds at the 2 deputies from a handgun. This subject finally put the gun down but then continued to actively fight with deputies until he was taken into custody.

This subject had sent an electronic message to another subject stating that "he was going out in a Blaze of Glory".

"Terry Collier was charged with attempted murder of a police officer; wanton endangerment – first-degree – police officer is victim; and fleeing or evading police – first-degree – on foot, and resisting arrest.

This subject was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Sheriff John Root, Detective Jason Back and Sgt. Larry Parrott assisted on the case investigation. Bailiff Brad Mink also assisted.
