Fleeing or Evading Police Arrest


Philpot, KY. (August 21, 2016) - Trooper Jonathan Hedges observed a vehicle, driven by Gregory Mayton, traveling eastbound on US 60 at 84 mph in a 55 mph zone. Upon activating his emergency equipment, Mr. Mayton shut off his headlights and proceeded to flee from the officer.

Mr. Mayton traveled in excess of 120 mph on Ky 54 and ran through 5 traffic lights, 3 of which were red, passing cars in the oncoming lane without his headlights. Once he left the city limits, he increased his speed to 140 mph. When Trooper Hedges began to catch up in the Philpot area, Mr. Mayton gave up and stopped.

Mr. Mayton was charged with fleeing or evading police 1st degree, speeding 26+ mph, reckless driving, wanton endangerment 1st, disregard of traffic control device and careless driving. He is being held in the Daviess County Detention Center.
