Two-year-old child found walking in Laurel County roadway

Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Capt.Chuck Johnson along with Lieut. Greg Poynter Arrested Alexander Lebeau age 22 of O. Johnson Rd., approximately 4 miles south of London on Thursday morning September 1, 2016 at approximately 10:10 AM.

The arrest occurred off O. Johnson Road after deputies received a complaint from an energy crew stating that they had found a two-year-old child walking in the roadway there. The crew had apparently knocked on the door of the residence nearby and were not able to locate anyone.

When deputies arrived at the scene they found the back door of the residence open and located the only occupant of the residence – the father of the child inside the residence who appeared to be under the influence and detected the odor of marijuana emitting from him. The subject stated that he had been asleep and was not aware of where the child was.

While deputies were at the scene conducting the investigation, the child's mother arrived at the residence stating that she had left the child with her husband and had allegedly told him that he would need to get up and watch the child.

Deputies located marijuana and paraphernalia while investigating. Alexander Lebeau was charged with wanton endangerment – first degree; possession of marijuana; and possession of drug paraphernalia and was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.

Deputies notified social services to assist and they placed the child with another relative.
