Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: on Friday, September 16th, 2016, the Laurel County Grand Jury returned an indictment on Gary Nicely charging murder, two counts of criminal abuse in the first-degree, assault in the first degree, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct – second-degree, and menacing.
Also the Laurel County Grand Jury returned an indictment on Jessica Hope Nicely charging murder, two counts of criminal abuse in the first-degree, and assault in the first-degree.
These indictments were the result of an investigation conducted by Detective Kyle Gray along with Detective Kevin Berry.

Update on 9-7-2016 at 4:30 P.M. - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Jessica Nicely age 31 has been charged with one count of murder and two counts of criminal abuse – first-degree – child 12 or under.
Her husband, Gary Nicely age 34 has been charged with one count of murder and one count of criminal abuse – first-degree – child 12 or under.
These two individuals continue to be lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center. This investigation is continuing by Detective Kyle Gray and Detective Kevin Berry.
