LSO seeking information on the whereabouts of suspect sought on assault case


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: the Laurel County Sheriff's Office is attempting to locate a suspect involved in the alleged assault of a 36-year-old female victim which occurred off Dorthae Road, approximately 9 miles south of London on Friday evening September 16, 2016 at approximately 7:00 PM.

Deputy Cloyd was dispatched to a complaint that a female subject had allegedly been beaten up pretty badly. When Deputy Cloyd arrived at the scene he learned from the 36-year-old female victim that her baby's father had allegedly assaulted her with a baseball bat in the woods off Dorthae Road. Deputy Cloyd noted numerous injuries on the victim's head, face and legs.

The victim was transported to Baptist Health Care for treatment of injuries and later transferred to UK Med Center by helicopter for further treatment.

Following an extensive investigation, deputies have identified a suspect and are attempting to locate David Stewart age 42 of Copley Rd., Lily. It is believed that the suspect is aware that the Sheriff's office is attempting to locate him regarding this assault case.

In addition, this subject is wanted on a Laurel County warrant of arrest charging criminal trespassing second-degree and stalking second-degree.
