KSP Issues Warning Following Suspicious Madison County Encounter


RICHMOND, Ky. - The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post has issued a warning to citizens in Madison County, and are asking for the public’s assistance after a suspicious encounter yesterday morning.

The initial investigation indicates that at approximately 11:00 am Wednesday, a 17 year old female reported that she had been approached by a white male in his 60’s at a lake in the Heron Landing Subdivision, off of Speedwell Road, just east of Richmond.

The caller alleged that the male got out of his car and opened the rear driver’s side door of his vehicle, before assuring her that he was not there to harm her and to not be afraid. She began to move away from him and he continued walking towards her while saying “I’m not going to hurt you”. The young female ran from this location to safety, and the unknown male returned to his vehicle and drove away from the area.

The suspicious person is described as a white male, 6’2” tall weighing approximately 160 pounds, with salt and pepper hair, and was seen wearing jeans, a navy blue collared shirt, brown shoes, and wire framed glasses. He was driving a small four door passenger car, that was described as resembling a Nissan Sentra that was a dull red color.

KSP encourages citizens to always be aware of their surroundings, and to find a safe populated area or contact law enforcement if they feel that their safety is threatened. Anyone with any information about the encounter is asked to call KSP Post 7 at 859-623-2404.
