Pike County student wins state Poetry Out Loud competition

FRANKFORT, Ky. — A 15-year-old sophomore student from Pike County is Kentucky's 2014 Poetry Out Loud state champion and will represent the Commonwealth at the national finals in April.

Kentucky’s annual jobless rate remained unchanged in 2013

FRANKFORT, Ky. Kentucky’s annual unemployment rate remained unchanged at 8.3 percent from 2012 to 2013, while nonfarm employment gained 15,500 jobs, according to the Office of Employment and Training (OET), an agency of the Kentucky Education and Workforce Development Cabinet.
