Donald E. Eckman of New Tazewell, Tennessee, formerly of Montgomery and Pine Bush, New York, passed away Saturday, January 5, 2019, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He was 70 years old.
The son of the late Douglas E. and Beatrice Tippet Eckman, he was born September 10, 1948, in Newburgh, New York.
Don was a 1966 graduate of Valley Central High School and a 1970 graduate of Ryder University. He owned and operated the Eckman Insurance Agency on Charles Street in Montgomery for nearly forty years, and served in the Army National Guard. He was a member of the Montgomery Jaycees; the Professional Insurance Agents of America; the Tri-State Car Club of Middletown; and The Orange County Mustang Club.
He was predeceased by his wife of 32 years, Linda Warren Eckman, in 2001; his mother, Betty Eckman, in 2002; and his father, Douglas Eckman, in 2008.
Survivors include his fiancee, Karen Carter, at home; his daughter, Deanna Eckman Korte and her husband, Dan, of Pataskala, OH; his "bonus" daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Billy Allen; and Karen's children George Smith, Josh Smith, and Daniel Smith.
Private services will be by the family.
Burial will be on Friday, January 11th at 11:00am at the Smith Nolan Cemetery in Clay County, Kentucky.
