Orpha Karen Carter, 60, of New Tazewell, TN, passed away Saturday, January 26th, at her home. She was of the Baptist faith.
Karen was preceded in death by her two infant children, Clara Sue Smith and Walter David Smith; by her fiancé, Donald Eckman; her parents, Bonnie Lee Hacker Smith and Creed Smith; and by her sister, Maggie Francis Swafford.
She is survived by her four children: Daniel (Mandy) Smith of Morristown, TN, Donna (Billy) Allen of New Tazewell, TN, Josh Smith, of Lawton, OK and George (Jessica) Smith of Pineville, KY; by her bonus daughter, Deanna (Dan) Korte; her special daughter-in-law, Lacey O'neil and her two children; and by her dog, Coco.
Karen is also survived by the following brothers and sisters: Zanna Jewell Hacker, Katheryn Sue Nolan, Ethel Collins, Richard Bryan Smith, Clyde David Smith and Shonda Kyle Rice, all of Manchester, Hubert Eugene Smith and Alice Ann Murphy, both of Greensburg, IN, and Gaylon Wayne Smith, of Indianapolis, IN; and by nine grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and special friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, February 2nd at Britton Funeral Home in Manchester, KY, with Travis Chumley and Daniel Smith officiating. Burial will follow in the Smith Nolan Cemetery on Paces Creek.
Visitation will be held 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 2nd at Britton Funeral Home in Manchester, KY.
