Obituary for Nana Lee Neace

Nana Lee Mobley Neace was born to Floyd & Martha Byrd Mobley on June 26th, 1935 at their home off of Cool Springs in Oneida, KY. She had 3 siblings – Lita Mobley Campbell, Clinton Mobley, & Golden Johnson. At age 16, Nana Lee was doing factory work in Cincinnati when a handsome young man from the hills of Breathitt County passed by on a bicycle. She whistled, he stopped pedaling, and soon she would become Mrs. Boyd Neace.

Nana Lee & Boyd would have three children – Linda, Stanley, & Steven, and share 62 years of hard work, tears, laughter, and love.

Time spent with Nana Lee meant that you would leave fed. Food for your belly and your soul. Alongside cornbread, biscuits, cobblers, and cakes, she ensured you also received healthy servings of wisdom, guidance, scripture, encouragement, acceptance, love, and laughter that filled the room. During most encounters with Nana Lee, she made sure you heard a tale or two.

Mrs. Nana Lee Mobley Neace departed this life on March 16th, 2024. Nana Lee was a witty story-teller who never met a stranger. She loved, and was loved by, everyone she knew. Nana Lee had an unwavering faith in her Lord & Savior and was a member of the Rockhouse Valley Church.
