Gladys Harris, age 79 departed this life on Friday July 18, 2025 to her heavenly home. Gladys was known as Nina to her children and grandchildren. Nina was a loving wife and mother, whom always loved family visits. You never walked in her house without being directed to the kitchen or offered something to eat or drink.
Nina was a member of Beech Creek Holiness Church since the early '60s. She was a vibrant member of the congregation and always singing spiritual hymns whether at church or at home. Nina will be missed dearly by her family, her church family, and the staff at Laurel Creek Nursing Home. With heavy hearts, we are all assured she is in the arms of our Heavenly Father. Our hearts will ache, but Nina is finally healed.
Gladys is survived by her husband of 64 years Teddy Harris. The following children Ricky Harris (Patty), Connie Hooker, Teddy Dwayne Harris (Tina) and Crystal Bowling (Steven). She is also survived by the following grandchildren, Josh Murphy (Amy), Jarod Murphy (Tiffany), Courtney Harris, Patrick Harris (Reanna), Stephanie Goins (Darrell), Ema Sams (Trevor), and Peyton Harris (Haley). She is also survived by 7 great grandchildren. She is survived by her brother and sister, Carl Gilbert and Mary Smith.
She is preceded in death by her parents Reuben and Mallie (Dezarn) Gilbert, brothers Edd Gilbert and Donald Gilbert. Son in law Ray Hooker and Brother in law Elmer Smith.
Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, July 23rd at Britton Funeral Home, with Dudley Lynch, Roger Webb, and Todd Hicks officiating. Burial will follow at the Beech Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be held at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, July 22nd at Britton Funeral Home.
