Mr. Ora Jackson

Ora Jackson, 85 of Brightshade, was born September 25th, 1928, and passed away May 21st, 2014 at Manchester Memorial Hospital.

He was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church and later attended Mill Creek United Methodist Church with his wife Donna. Ora's former occupations included logger, deputy sheriff, worked for the state highway department, Interstate Coal Co., a bus driver for the Clay County Board of Education, and a tobacco farmer.

He is survived by his wife, Donna Marie Mills Jackson of 62 years and three sons, Ronnie Jackson and wife Toni, Ronald Wayne and Joanne Jackson, and Larry Jackson and wife Paula, all of Manchester.

Six grandchildren: Cory Dakin (Tracy) of Indianapolis, IN, Amanda Renee Peters (James) of East Bernstadt, Jamie Jackson, (Paige) of Manchester, Jeremy Jackson (Hope) of Manchester, Ronald Brandon Jackson (Michelle) of London, Emily Rose Jackson of Manchester and a special boy he loved as his own grandson, Leonard Darrell Root of Manchester.

Four great grandchildren: Mikayla Dakin, Christopher Peters, Jase Jackson, and Jade Jackson.

Three step great grandchildren: Morgan Eldrige, Ausin Virden, and Tyeler Virden.

These brothers and sisters: Clara Sizemore of Hamilton, OH, Mae Mills, Alex Jackson, Baxter Jackson and Leon Jackson, all of Manchester and several nieces and nephews. He leaves a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mollie Mills Jackson, and these brothers and sisters: Homer Jackson, Delora Jackson, George Jackson, Jr., Leovie Smith, Virgie Jackson, Wilma Jackson, Wilford Jackson, and these half brothers and sister: Lawrence Jackson, Florence Smith, and Simon Jackson.

Funeral services for Ora Jackson will be conducted on Sunday, May 25th, at 2 PM at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel with Herman Asher, Robert Gross, and Jerry Hurst officiating. Burial will follow in the Ora Jackson Cemetery at Brightshade. Visitation will be after 6 PM Saturday at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel.

Pallbearers will be William Jackson, Wilson Jackson, Lynn Jackson, David Jackson, Corey Dakin, James Peters, Jamie Jackson, Jeremy Jackson, Ronald Brandon Jackson, and Leonard Root.
