Mrs. Venus Rowland, age 84 of Manchester, departed this life on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at the Manchester Memorial Hospital.
She was born on Wednesday, November 12, 1930 in Clay County, Kentucky to the union of Gobel and Lydia Bruner Cheek. She was retired as a cook for the Clay County Board of Education and was a member of the Zion Missionary Baptist Church.
She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Carol Woods and her husband Dick of Manchester, Glenn Rowland and his wife Gladene of Manchester, and Teresa Young and her husband Anthony of Manchester. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Jeffrey Glenn Woods, Judy Lynn Woods, Bradley Glenn Rowland, Amy Nicole Rowland, Anthony Matthew Young, Ryan Glenn Young, and Samantha Laura Young, these great grandchildren: Dylan Clay Woods, Hannah C. Woods, Lydia Grace Woods, Logan Gabbard, Gracie Gabbard, and Ava Drae Nolan, and her brother: J. B. Cheek of Indiana.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Gobel and Lydia Cheek, her husband: Sam B. Rowland, her brother: Audie Cheek, and her sisters: Verda Hoskins, Eva Mae Brown, and Lorene Montoya.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Venus Rowland will be conducted on Tuesday, March 10, at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Charlie Hubbard and Rev. Carl Allen will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Manchester Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held on Monday after 6 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
