Mrs. Bessie Mathis, age 86 of Jacks Branch departed this life on Monday, October 26, 2015 at the Laurel Creek Health Care Center.
She was born on Saturday, April 27, 1929 in Clay County to Blaine and Esther Hinkle Bowling. She was a homemaker and a member of the Morgan Branch Baptist Church.
She leaves to mourn her passing her children: Arnold Mathis and his wife Rosetta, Henry Mathis and his wife Linda, Shelby Mathis and his wife Darlene, Tony Mathis, Nancy Lawson and her husband Richard, Hazel Helton, RJ Mathis and his wife Melissa, Sam Mathis and his wife Misty, David Hubbard, and Nora Jean Gray. Also surviving are 20 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and her brother: Stanley Bowling.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Blaine and Esther Bowling, her husband: Sam Mathis, her son: Herman Mathis, 3 grandchildren: Rochelle Renee Mathis, Makesha Collins and Tommy Lee Mathis, and 1 great grandson: Shelby Jacob Mathis.
Funeral Services for Mrs. Bessie Mathis will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 at 1 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Scotty Jewell and Rev. Roscoe Roark will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Jackson Cemetery in the Jacks Branch Community.
Visitation will be held on Thursday evening after 6 PM at the Rominger Funeral Home Chapel.
