Mr. Woolery Bowling, Jr.


Mr. Woolery Bowling, Jr., age 91 of Big Creek departed this life on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky. He was born on Saturday, April 18, 1925 in the Bowling Town Community of Perry County, Kentucky to the union of Woolery and Vinnie Wooton Begley Bowling.

He was a retired coal miner and an electrician in the mines as well as a veteran of the United States Navy.

He leaves to mourn his passing his wife: Leona Burton Bowling and these children: Janice Whited and husband Dwight, James Bowling, Joseph Bowling and his wife Bobbie, Joanie Gooch and her husband James C., Woolery Jr. Bowling and wife Lisa, Jason Bowling and Jackie Bowling and his wife Sharon Kaye. Also surviving are 19 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren and his brother: Nelson “Tudd” Bowling.

Funeral services for Mr. Woolery Bowling, Jr. will be conducted on Thursday, August 25 at 12 PM at the Big Creek Baptist Church. Rev. Tracey Mitchell will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Harrison Cemetery in the Buckhorn Community.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday after 7 PM and on Wednesday at the Big Creek Holiness Church.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Rominger Funeral Home.
