Mrs. Goldie Thompson, age 93, of Manchester, departed this life at her home on Friday, September 23rd, of 2016. She was born on November 11th, 1922 in Plank, Kentucky to Evon Carpenter and Lula Smith Carpenter.
She left to mourn her passing two sons, one daughter, and one daughter-in-law: Morris Thompson and his wife Esther of Manchester, Melvin Thompson of Billy's Branch, Marsha Bruner of Corbin, Kentucky, and Mary Gail Thompson. Goldie is also survived by two brothers: Cartis Carpenter and his wife Merkie of London, and James Carpenter of Lexington, Kentucky.
She also leaves behind these grandchildren: Michelle Ledford and her husband Mike, Michael Rodney and his wife Jennifer, Kevin Dale Bruner Jr. and wife Gretchen, Shane Thompson and his wife Kim, Nichalos Paul Bruner, and Steven and his wife Misty. In addition to six grandchildren , Goldie leaves behind nine great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren: Jessica Hibbard and her husband Jason, Shelley Ledford, Austin Thompson, Andrew Thompson, Cory Coots, Peyton Thompson, Connor Thompson, Cade Thompson, Johnathan Ledford and his wife Stephanie, Mia Hibbard, Maddox Hibbard, and Kinzlee Ledford.
Mrs. Goldie also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews along with caregivers Sandra Wagers and Bonnie Henson to mourn her passing.
She is preceded in death by her parents: Evon and Lula Carpenter, her husband: Oscar Thompson, her brother: G.B Carpenter, two sons: Myron Thompson and Michael Thompson, two grandchildren: Myron Glenn Thompson and Tracy Bruner, and one great grandchild: Trenton Glenn Thompson.
Funeral services for Goldie Thompson will be held at the Britton Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 27th, at 11 AM with Morris Thompson and Cartis Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in the Thompson Cemetery in the Goose Rock community.
Visitation will be held at the Britton Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, September 26th, at 6 PM.
