Beshear: Taylor County Man Arrested for Possessing Child Pornography

Search warrant discovers images, videos depicting minors engaging in sexual acts

FRANKFORT, KY. (Nov. 16, 2016) – Attorney General Andy Beshear and his Cyber Crimes Unit today announced a Taylor County man has been arrested for possessing child pornography.

Jessie Thompson, 25, of Campbellsville, was arrested on 20 counts of possession of child pornography.

Thompson was arrested following a lead from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in Alaska.

After a search warrant of his residence was executed, cyber investigators from the Attorney General’s Office located hundreds of images and videos depicting minors engaging in sexual performances.

Thompson’s case will be prosecuted by both the Taylor County commonwealth’s attorney and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Alaska located in Anchorage, Alaska.

“We are working every day to protect Kentucky’s children from online predators,” said Beshear. “I am immensely proud of the Cyber Crimes Unit and applaud each investigator’s dedication and fervor for protecting our children.”

The work of the Cyber Crimes Unit, a division of the Department of Criminal Investigations in the Office of the Attorney General, is part of Beshear’s core mission to keep sexual predators away from Kentucky’s families and children.

The Cyber Crimes Unit has made a record number of online child predator arrests this year.
