MAN ARRESTED DURING COLLISION INVESTIGATION IN LAUREL COUNTY, KY

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Reed investigated a single vehicle collision on Johnson Rd. and arrested Jerry Smith of London, KY on June 22, 2025.

The arrest occurred late Sunday night June 22nd after Deputy Reed determined the subject, Jerry Smith, age 58, to be under the influence causing him to lay his motorcycle over as he traveled down Johnson Rd.

During the course of Deputy Reed's investigation he also located suspected Methamphetamine. Deputy Reed, with assistance from Deputy Zach Allen arrested Mr. Smith and he was transported to the Laurel County Correctional Center where records indicate he was booked into the facility at 1:16 AM, Monday morning June 23, 2025.

Jerry Smith is charged with:

  • OPER MTR VEHICLE U/INFL SUBST (189A.010(1C) - 2ND
  • NO MOTORCYCLE OPERATORS LICENSE
  • POSS CONT SUB 1ST DEG, 1ST OFF (METHAMPHETAMINE)
  • TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE

This individual was lodged the Laurel County Correctional Center with a court appearance scheduled for Tuesday, July 1, 2025 at 11:00 AM.
