Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Josh Scott along with Deputy Travis Napier and Deputy Charlie Johnson arrested Jonathan Coots age 28 of Farris Jones Rd., London on Sunday afternoon November 20, 2016 at approximately 2:20 PM.
The arrest occurred off E.B. Gross road, approximately 8 miles north of London after deputies were dispatched to a domestic violence complaint there.
Upon arrival at the scene deputies conducted an investigation and learned from this subject's girlfriend that the suspect had allegedly threw hot coffee on her, grabbed her by the neck, and struck her several times. The victim had visible injuries.
The suspect had fled the scene as deputies arrived, however he was located in an out building and gave deputies a false name.
Jonathan Coots was charged with assault – fourth degree; fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot; and giving officer false name or address. In addition, this subject was wanted on a Laurel County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court regarding child support.
This subject was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
