Salvation Army employee lodged in LCDC by LSO deputies


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Detective Kyle Gray along with Detective Kevin Berry arrested John Mueller age 43 of Westend Homes, Middlesboro on Friday afternoon December 9, 2016 at approximately 2:10 PM.

The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County, 10 miles south of London after Sheriff's detectives working in conjunction with Walmart's loss prevention team observed this subject accepting an undisclosed amount of money on two occasions being donated to the Salvation Army and acting as if he was putting the money inside the bucket, however he would take the money and put it in his pocket.

This individual was employed by the Salvation Army to collect donations. During the course of the investigation, detectives determined that this subject was also under the influence – he admitted taking neurotin earlier in the day.

John Mueller was charged with two counts of theft by unlawful taking under $500 and public intoxication – controlled substances. In addition, this subject was charged on a Bell County bench warrant of arrest for failure to appear in court on three counts of theft by deception – cold checks under $500. This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
