ARMED MAN ARRESTED AFTER SWAT STANDOFF IN CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OREGON

CLACKAMAS COUNTY, OR -- Shortly before 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies and Milwaukie Police officers responded to a report of a man firing a gun inside a house on the 6200 block of Southeast Monroe Street, near Milwaukie in unincorporated Clackamas County.

Deputies arrived to find a large group of people outside the house. They told deputies they were residents at the location. They had fled outside when another resident, 35-year-old Rian Keith Pittman, began threatening them with a semi-automatic handgun, yelling to "get out," pointing the gun at other residents, and discharging rounds inside the house.

All of the residents except Pittman were outside the home when deputies arrived, and no one appeared to be injured. Pittman remained inside the house by himself.

The Clackamas County Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Team responded to the scene along with the Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) to safely contain the situation. CNT members established phone contact with Pittman, who were able to successfully negotiate Pittman’s surrender. At approximately 11:10 p.m., Pittman exited the house where he was safely taken into custody without further incident. Deputies searched the house and recovered a handgun.
