Deputies dispatched to report of a car on railroad tracks in Laurel County


Laurel County, KY - Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Deputy Gary Mehler along with Deputy Rick Cloyd arrested Lindsey Smith age 27 Of Boardwalk Cir., London on Saturday afternoon December 10, 2016 at approximately 3:02 PM.

The arrest occurred off North Laurel Rd. at the intersection of Ky Highway 3434 where CSX railroad tracks crosses Highway 3434 approximately 1 mile north of London. Deputies were dispatched to a report that a car was on the railroad tracks there.

When deputies arrived at the scene and conducted an investigation they determined that this subject was the driver of a car that was stuck on the railroad tracks off the roadway where she had allegedly failed to negotiate the crossing dropping off the roadway onto the railroad tracks. Deputies had to notify CSX railroad to stop train traffic until the tracks could be cleared.

This subject stated she had taken Neurotins and Suboxone and did not have a prescription for either one. Lindsey Smith was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense; operating on suspended or revoked operators license; and false statements and concealment of facts prohibited.

This subject was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
