Fire destroys 1 home & damages 2 others in Manchester

Manchester, KY (May 27, 2019) - The City Of Manchester Fire Department is reporting that: At approximately 04:12 AM on Monday May 27, 2019 Manchester & Lockard’s Creek Fire Units were dispatched by Clay County 911 to a possible structure fire on Oak Street in the city limits of Manchester.

Upon arrival of The Manchester Police Department Officers Antonio Dodson & Jeremy Garrison along with Clay County Sheriff’s Office Deputy Brandon Edwards it was determined that the structure was fully involved in fire and that there were two other structure’s endangered by the one already being overcome by fire.

These 3 officers evacuated the two residences that were in immediate danger with no regard for their own life but concerned for the adult’s and several children inside the residences.

Within 2 minutes Engine Company 7 was on scene and observed heavy fire from the initial structure extending into a nearby structure.

Engine Company 7 quickly began an attack and extinguished the residence that was slowly being overcome by fire stopping it from making it into that residence and providing exposure protection to both.

Upon arrival of Engine Company 4 and Car 1 the residence involved was deemed too dangerous to make entry and units made a defensive stance.

Units provided exposure protection for several hours.

Before crews cleared the scene they provided smoke detectors to the two other residence involved that didn’t have any.

Units cleared the scene with no further incident.
