UPDATE: KSP Arrests Owsley County High School Teacher for Sexual Offenses

MCKEE, KY. (November 24, 2019) – The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post is continuing their investigation of an Owsley County High School teacher, who was arrested earlier this month for sexual offenses.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, James Cornett was arrested Friday night and charged with two additional counts of Sexual Abuse, 1st Degree. He was lodged in the Jackson County Detention Center in McKee, KY.

BOONEVILLE, KY. (November 14, 2019) – The Kentucky State Police, Richmond Post was contacted on November 11, 2019 about allegations of an Owsley County High School Teacher who had sexual contact with two students. 

As a result of the initial investigation, James S. Cornett, 40 years old of Beattyville, KY, has been arrested and charged with two counts of Sexual Abuse, 1st Degree. He was lodged in Three Forks Regional Jail in Lee County. 

The ongoing investigation is being conducted by KSP Post 7 Detective Austin Brashear. Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to contact KSP, Richmond Post.
