Baby found with feet covered in dog feces during Welfare Check by Police

LONDON, KY (January 18, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Taylor McDaniel along with Deputy Robert Reed arrested two individuals on Friday morning January 17, 2020 at approximately 11:27 AM.

The arrests occurred off Park Subdivision Road at a residence after deputies were dispatched to conduct a welfare check there.

When deputies arrived at the scene and entered the residence, they noted a two year old male child playing in the floor around dog feces and what appeared to be urine.

In addition, they noted that the baby’s feet was covered in dog feces with dog feces caked around its toes and the child appeared like it hadn't been bathed in several days. They noted dog feces on table chairs. The child was playing with a bottle of bleach.

Caregivers there could not remember when the child had its last bath. Deputies noted a strong odor of ammonia in the residence. Some locations in the residence had huge piles of dog feces throughout the house and in some places up to an inch deep.

Also, they noted dirty dishes and trash piled up on the floor and on the countertops.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

Joey Ridener (father of the child) age 30 of Park Subdivision, London charged with:

  • Criminal abuse – first-degree – child 12 or under

Tammy Hammons ( identified as the aunt of the child) age 35 of Park Subdivision, London charged with:

  • Criminal abuse – first-degree – child 12 or under

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
