Huge amount of Meth seized in southeast Ky. with 3 arrests during joint drug investigation

Almost 1lb Meth suspects 10 22 20

LONDON, KY (October 23, 2020) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root and Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith are reporting that: Following a joint drug investigation conducted by the Laurel County Sheriff's office and the Knox County Sheriff's office three individuals were arrested on charges including trafficking meth and being wanted fugitives on Thursday night October 22, 2020 at approximately 8:23 PM.

laurel and knox deputies pose with contraband The arrests were the result of 3 individuals being located in a white colored Hyundai Sonata off West Cumberland Gap Parkway approximately 10 miles South of London.

Laurel and Knox County deputies located a large quantity of suspected Methamphetamine (Approx. one pound) described as appearing to be more than 90% pure.

In addition, Marijuana was found in the vehicle.

Two of the individuals in the vehicle were wanted fugitives from out of state.

Knox County Sheriff Mike Smith stated that "It’s believed that  the Meth was headed to Knox County to be trafficked."

The arrested individuals were identified as:

Deandre M. Johnson age 30 of Lincoln Ave., Louisville, KY charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Marijuana
  • A fugitive wanted by Clinton County IndianaA Jefferson District Court warrant of arrest charging:
    Wanton endangerment – first-degree
    Possession of a handgun by a convicted felon regarding an investigation conducted by Louisville Metro Police Department
  • A second Jefferson District Court warrant of arrest charging:
    Burglary – second-degree
    Criminal mischief – first-degree regarding an investigation conducted by Louisville Metro Police Department
  • A Jefferson Circuit Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
    Failure to appear in court on charges of two counts of possession of a handgun by a convicted felon
    Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine.

Robert Bright age 26 of West Jefferson St., Louisville, KY charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of Marijuana

Bennasha Kenyatta Harris age 23 of Tipsy Cir., Louisville, KY charged with:

  • Being a fugitive wanted by Harrison County Sheriff's office Indiana
