Six Arrested during Theft Complaint Investigation in Southeast Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Detective Taylor McDaniel along with Major Chuck Johnson, Lieut. Chris Edwards, Detective James Sizemore, and Detective Bryon Lawson arrested six individuals on Wednesday morning April 7, 2021 at approximately 10:39 AM.

The arrests occurred off old KY 30 near East Bernstadt while Sheriff's detectives and deputies were investigating a theft complaint on Highway 3094 near East Bernstadt. Sheriff's investigators found suspects in possession of a stolen welder, ladder, and air compressor.

In addition, suspects were located with outstanding warrants.

Those arrested were identified as:

Billy Hurley, Jr. age 77 of Litton Town Rd., East Bernstadt charged with:

  • Theft by unlawful taking under $500

In addition, this individual was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Failure to appear in court on charges of driving on a DUI suspended license – first offense

Roger Flannery age 61 of Litton Town Rd., East Bernstadt charged with:

  • Theft by unlawful taking under $500

Michael Dusenberry age 58 of Sally's Branch Rd., London charged with:

  • Theft by unlawful taking under $500

Christy Laws age 37 of Morgan St., London charged with:

  • Failing to appear in court

Donnie Simpson age 65 of Highway 3094, East Bernstadt charged with:

  • Failing to appear in court

Brandon D. Cawood age 37 of Mount Zion Rd., East Bernstadt charged with:

  • Failing to appear in court

All six individuals were lodged in the Laurel County correctional Center.
