DUI Driver with a Passenger Wanted for Drug Trafficking Nabbed at Scene of a Suspicious Vehicle Complaint in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Jamie Etherton along with shift Sgt. Brett Reeves arrested two individuals on Wednesday afternoon June 16, 2021 at approximately 12:59 PM.

The arrests occurred in a business parking lot off South Stewart Rd., approximately 10 miles South of London after deputies were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle complaint there.

Upon arrival at the scene deputies located a gray Pontiac G6 and conducted an investigation on the driver determining that he was driving on a DUI suspended license.

A passenger in the vehicle was determined to be wanted on an outstanding warrant and was found in possession of:

  • Oxycodone and Gabapentin

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

The driver – Scott A. Jones age 42 of Briar Creek Rd., Williamsburg charged with:

  • Driving on DUI suspended license – Second offense

The passenger – Ronald V.. Johnson age 56 of Boulevard of Champions Rd., Williamsburg charged with:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – Second-degree
  • Prescription controlled substances not in proper container – Second offense

In addition, this subject was charged on a Whitley Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – First-degree – First offense
  • Possession of Drug paraphernalia
  • Receiving stolen property – Firearm

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
