LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Carly Dorraugh arrested Timothy Aaron Smith, age 27 of Corbin on Thursday morning May 1, 2025 at approximately 10:00 AM.
The arrest occurred at Walmart near Corbin in southern Laurel County after Walmart's loss prevention team observed this individual allegedly leaving the store without paying for items totaling $27.98.
Deputy Dorraugh was disptched by London -Laurel County 911 Communication Center to the complaint of a shoplifter there and located the suspect in the parking lot and found the suspect in possession of the reported stolen items.
During arrest this individual was found in possession of brass knuckles concealed on his person.
Timothy Aaron Smith was charged with:
- Theft by unlawful taking – shoplifting
- Carrying a concealed weapon
In addition, it was determined that this individual was wanted on outstanding warrants.
Timothy Aaron Smith was charged on a Laurel District Court bench warrant of arrest charging:
- Nonpayment of court costs, fees or fines
In addition, this individual was charged on a Knox District Court complaint warrant of arrest charging:
- Theft by unlawful taking $500 or more but under $1000
- Criminal mischief – second-degree
