Scottsville, Kentucky Man arrested after fleeing Police investigating a Complaint in Laurel County

LONDON, KY (September 13, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Dustin Saylor arrested Steven James Maxey age 39 of Scottsville, KY on Sunday night September 12, 2021 at approximately 10:01 PM.

The arrest occurred off Parker Road, approximately 1 1/2 miles west of London after Deputy Saylor was dispatched to a complaint of a male subject apparently passed out at a business there.

While enroute to the scene Deputy Saylor was advised by 911 dispatch that the male subject had gotten up and left the business going to a house next door and knocking on the door causing alarm to residents there.

When Deputy Saylor arrived at the residence, he was advised by homeowners that the male subject had ran to a neighbor's house nearby.

When Deputy Saylor arrived at that residence the homeowner advised that the male subject had observed the police vehicle and fled on foot around his house.

It was determined then that the male subject had traveled across West Laurel Road fleeing on foot.

Deputy Saylor pursued the subject on foot attempting to get him to stop however the male subject traveled to a fence line where he was detained.

An investigation was conducted and this individual was determined to be under the influence.

Steven James Maxey was charged with:

  • Public intoxication – controlled substances
  • Disorderly conduct – second-degree
  • Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
