FATAL VEHICLE VS PEDESTRIAN CRASH ON U.S. 25 IN KENTUCKY

LONDON, KY (December 12, 2021) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Traffic Crash Reconstructionist/ Deputy Brad Mink along with Deputy Tommy Houston and Deputy Bo Harris investigated a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic fatality which occurred on U.S. 25 approximately 7 miles South of London early Sunday morning December 12, 2021 at approximately 2:21 AM.

Sheriff's investigators report that apparently a silver colored F-250 pickup truck traveling northbound on U.S. 25 struck a pedestrian who was in the unlit roadway in the northbound travel lane causing a fatal injury to the pedestrian there.

The driver of the F-250 pickup was identified as: Roger Roark age 69 of London- no injuries reported.

The pedestrian was identified as: Chadwick Smith age 32 of War Branch, KY pronounced deceased at the scene Laurel County Coroner Doug Bowling.

Also assisting at the scene was Ambulance Inc. of Laurel County, London Laurel Rescue Squad, and Lily Volunteer Fire Department.

The investigation is continuing by Deputy Brad Mink.
