Upcoming FREE Programs for Clay County, Kentucky in January 2022 from the Cooperative Extension Service

MANCHESTER, KY (December 24, 2021) - Clay County Cooperative Extension Service upcoming programs for January, 2022.

Jan 3, 2022 1–5 PM: Woodland Owner Field Day

Interested in learning more about forest stand improvement, wildlife management, invasive species control, cost-share opportunities, and maple syrup production? If so, you should attend the Woodland Owner Field Day at Jimmie Sizemore’s farm (591 Sarvis Branch Road, Manchester). We’ll discuss all of these topics (and more) while seeing on-the-ground examples of what these activities look like in practice. Please let us know you’re coming by calling 606-598-2789 so we can plan our stops accordingly. If needed, this training will satisfy your 2021 CAIP educational requirement.

January 6, 10 – 11 AM and 6 – 7 PM: Introduction to Fencing

Clay County Extension will host two introductory fencing sessions on January 6, one in the morning and one in the evening. Both sessions will be held at the Clay County Extension Office. Both sessions cover the pros and cons of different types of fences, approximate construction costs, installation tips, and Kentucky fence law. If needed, this training will satisfy your 2021 CAIP educational requirement. Call 598-2789 to register.

4-H Cooking Club

Join us on January 11th at 4:00pm as we make Easy Peasy Mac & Cheesy Pasta recipe! Our meeting will take place at the Clay County Extension Office. FREE & open to all youth ages 8-18. You must call to register at 598-2789.

January 11, 6 – 7:30: Clay County Cattlemen’s meeting

Come out to the first Cattlemen’s meeting of 2022 at the EXCEL building to share a meal and talk to your neighbors! In addition to the good fellowship, we’ll discuss ways we can manage fertility in our pastures and hayfields. Fertilizer prices are near an all-time high, so it’s more important than ever to make sure we’re getting adequate return from the money we invest into fertility. Call 598-2789 to let us know you will be attending.

4-H Rabbit Club

Mark your calendars for January 18th at 4:00 pm for the next Rabbit Club meeting at the Clay County Extension Office! You do not have to own a rabbit to join. FREE & open to all youth ages 8-18. You must call 598-2789 to register.

4-H Art Club

Our Art Club Meeting will be January 25th at 4:00pm at the Clay County Extension Office. Each month we will focus on a new art project! FREE & open to all youth ages 8-18. Call to register at 598-2789.
