FRANKFORT, KY (July 2, 2025) — Republican Party of Kentucky (RPK) Communications Director Andy Westberry issued the following statement after State Auditor Allison Ball’s recently released report on the Kentucky Department of Education showed the Beshear administration allowed $250 million in SEEK funding - which is used to fund Kentucky public schools - to lapse without reallocating the funds.
This occurred even as Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) Commissioner Robbie Fletcher requested additional SEEK dollars in January, citing a projected $40 million shortfall for the 2024-25 school year.
"Until Andy Beshear and the Kentucky Department of Education can properly manage the funding already available for local school districts, they have no business requesting more money or using taxpayer-funded public relations stunts to pressure the General Assembly into launching new education programs — especially when Auditor Ball’s report clearly shows this administration is incapable of managing the ones already in place."
