Police and EMS respond to Complaint of Driver appearing Unresponsive at a Service Station in Laurel County, Kentucky

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Tommy Houston arrested Charles Jacob Burke age 23 of London early Sunday morning February 20, 2022 at approximately 5:46 AM.

Charles Jacob Burke 2 20 22The arrest occurred at a service station parking lot at the pumps in southern Laurel County after deputies were dispatched to a complaint of a male subject behind the wheel of a gray colored Buick car and that the driver appeared to be unresponsive.

When Deputy Houston arrived at the scene he located the suspect vehicle and noted a male subject under the wheel and that he had difficulty awakening the driver.

Deputy Houston had EMS respond to the scene to make sure that the male subject was not having a medical issue.

It was determined that the driver was not having a medical issue and an investigation was conducted and the driver was determined to be under the influence.

Charles Jacob Burke was charged with:

  • Operating a motor vehicle under the influence – first offense

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
