Overdose Investigation in Knox County, Kentucky leads to Arrest of Laurel Resident for Heroin Trafficking

LONDON, KY (March 15, 2022) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Justin Taylor along with Deputy Landry Collett, Deputy James Sizemore, and Deputy Bo Harris arrested William Edward Wilder age 38 of Echo Valley Road, Lily, KY early Tuesday morning March 15, 2022 at approximately 4:24 AM.

The arrest occurred at a residence off Echo Valley Road, approximately 7 miles South of London after Laurel County deputies were contacted by Knox County Deputy Bobby Jones.

Deputy Jones reported that he was investigating a case where a female had overdosed in Knox County.

Reportedly, she had purchased suspected Heroin in Laurel County.

Laurel deputies developed information on the whereabouts of the possible suspect and traveled to that location off Echo Valley Road and found the suspect in possession of:

  • Suspected Heroin
  • Digital scales
  • Plastic baggies
  • Syringes
  • A large sum of US currency

William Edward Wilder was charged with:

  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first offense – Heroin
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County correctional Center.
