Heroin, Ecstasy, Marijuana and Counterfeit Xanax Pills seized in London, Kentucky during Arrest of a Fugitive wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service and another Suspect

 These two individuals were found with approximately 3,000 counterfeit Xanax pills

LONDON, KY (April 5, 2022) - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's interdiction unit Justin Taylor along with Deputy Tommy Houston, Deputy Bo Harris, Deputy James Sizemore with assistance from London City Police Officer Joey Robinson arrested two individuals early Tuesday morning April 5, 2022 at approximately 3:12 AM.

The arrests occurred in the parking lot of a motel in London while deputies were checking subjects in a white colored Nissan Altima where it was learned that an occupant in the vehicle had an active felony warrant for her arrest.

During the investigation a hypodermic needle fell from the lap of the female suspect onto the ground and the male driver fled on foot. Following a short foot chase the male suspect was detained and deputies found three bags in possession of the driver containing suspected Heroin, Ecstasy, and Marijuana.

In addition, this individual was determined to be wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service as a fugitive and also had an indictment warrant.

During the period of time that the deputies were chasing the male suspect, the female suspect fled to a nearby motel and was found by London City Police Officer Joey Robinson hiding in the bathroom.

This individual was found in possession of:

  • Suspected Methamphetamine
  • A glass smoking pipe
  • Digital scales.

In addition, this individual was also determined to be wanted on two outstanding bench warrants.

The two arrested individuals were identified as:

Davon Jamar Blackford age 41 of Marietta Dr., Lexington, KY charged with:

  • Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
  • Resisting arrest
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first offense – Heroin
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first offense – Carfentanyl or Fentanyl derivatives
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Possession of Marijuana

In addition, this subject was charged as:

  • A wanted fugitive wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service

Also, this subject was charged on a Fayette Circuit Court indictment warrant of arrest charging:

  • Persistent felony offender I

Melissa L. Combs age 44 of Lake St., Richmond, KY charged with:

  • Fleeing or evading police – second-degree – on foot
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first offense – Heroin
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first offense – Carfentanyl or Fentanyl derivatives
  • Trafficking in a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

In addition, this subject was charged on a Perry Circuit Court bench warrant of arrest charging:

  • Probation violation using drugs – no bond – revocation hearing regarding a charge of attempted tampering with physical evidence

Also the subject was charged on a Letcher Circuit Court bench warrant of arrest charging a probation violation regarding charges of:

  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense – Methamphetamine
  • Tampering with physical evidence
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • Resisting arrest
  • Probation violation

Note: These two individuals were found with approximately 3,000 counterfeit Xanax pills.

These two individuals were lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
