LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that : Laurel Sheriff's Deputy Daniel Reed arrested Steven Brooks, age 48, of Richmond, KY on Tuesday afternoon June 17, 2025 at approximately 3:58 PM.
The arrest occurred on Broad Street in front of the Laurel County Sheriff's office in London after Deputy Reed observed a male subject passed out in the driver's seat of a motor vehicle parked there. Deputy Reed noted observing an open alcoholic beverage container in the vehicle.
Deputy Reed conducted an investigation noting detecting the odor of alcoholic beverages emitting from this individual and observing him with bloodshot glassy eyes and slurred speech. Steven Brooks was determined to be under the influence.
The male subject advised Deputy Reed that he had driven from Richmond for his girlfriend to meet with her public defender. It was also determined that this individual had operated a motor vehicle on a DUI suspended license.
Steven Brooks was charged with:
- Alcohol intoxication in a public place
- Drinking alcoholic beverages in a public place
- Possession of open alcoholic beverage container in motor vehicle prohibited
- Driving on a DUI suspended license – first offense
This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.
