HARDINSBURG, KY (July 9, 2022) – Kentucky State Police is reporting that KSP was contacted by the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) requesting assistance after the discovery of a deceased individual at a residence on Harned Road in Breckinridge County. The KSP investigation lead to two men being arrested Friday and charged with murder in Breckinridge County.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Beverly Smallwood, 59 of Harned, was found deceased inside the residence.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives arrested Rodney Jones, 53 of Hardinsburg, KY and Boris Drane, 33 of Harned, KY.
Rodney Jones was charged with:
- MURDER
Boris Drane was charged with:
- MURDER
- ABUSE OF CORPSE
- TAMPERING WITH PHYSICAL EVIDENCE
Both men were later lodged in the Breckinridge County Detention Center.

The victim’s body was transported to the Kentucky Medical Examiner’s Office in Louisville for an autopsy to be conducted.
KSP was also assisted at the scene by the Breckinridge County Sheriff’s Office and the Breckinridge County Coroner’s Office.
