Gray, Kentucky man arrested off Highway 233 after allegedly setting a House on Fire found with Meth and wanted in Whitley County

LONDON, KY - Laurel County Sheriff John Root is reporting that: Laurel Sheriff's shift Sgt. Brett Reeves arrested Craig S. Waldroupe age 55 of Gray, KY on Friday morning March 24, 2023 at approximately 8:03 AM.

The arrest occurred off KY 233 approximately 12 miles South of London after Sgt. Reeves was dispatched to a residential house fire there.

Upon arrival at the scene Sgt. Reeves conducted an investigation and learned that allegedly Waldroupe had set the residence there on fire. In addition it was learned that this individual was wanted on an active Whitley County warrant.

Upon arrest this individual was found in possession of suspected Methamphetamine and a glass pipe.

Craig Waldroupe was charged with:

  • Arson – third-degree
  • Possession of a controlled substance – first-degree – first offense-Methamphetamine
  • Possession of drug paraphernalia

In addition, this individual was charged on a Whitley County Bench warrant of arrest charging failure to appear in court on charges of:

  • Unlawful possession of a Meth precursor

This individual was lodged in the Laurel County Correctional Center.

Assisting on the investigation was Laurel Sheriff's Detective Jake Miller. Also assisting at the scene was: London Laurel Ambulance, Campground Volunteer Fire Department, and West Knox Volunteer Fire Department.
