UMATILLA COUNTY, OR (May 2, 2023) - The Oregon State Police (OSP) is reporting that on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at approximately 10:01 P.M., OSP responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Highway 395, near milepost 4A, in Umatilla County.
The preliminary investigation indicated a 2014 Ford F-150, operated by Jeffrey Dean Toms, 53, of Boardman, was traveling southbound in the slow lane when it struck a female pedestrian, Angela D. Beshers-Liles, 50, who was crossing in a non-crosswalk, unlighted section of the highway.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMT's from the Umatilla County Fire District #1.
The highway was impacted for approximately 4 hours during the on-scene investigation
OSP was assisted by Umatilla County Fire District #1, Umatilla County 911 Dispatch Center, Hermiston Police Department, and ODOT.
