TODDLER FATALLY SHOT BY ANOTHER CHILD IN CORBIN, KENTUCKY IDENTIFIED AND PRELIMINARY RESULT OF ONGOING INVESTIGATION

CORBIN, KY - The Whitley County Sheriff's Department is reporting that on Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 9:51 AM, the Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to 75 Martin Road in Corbin in reference to a child that had been accidentally shot by another child.

The Corbin Police Department and the Corbin Fire Department both responded to the scene and arrived prior to sheriff department personnel.

The child, later identified as 2 year-old Milo Brooks, was transported by the Corbin Fire Department to Baptist Health Hospital in Corbin, KY where he was pronounced deceased.

The preliminary investigation revealed that 2 year-old Milo Brooks had been accidentally shot one time in the head by another child in the home that was able to gain access to a firearm.

Sheriff Bill Elliotte is leading the ongoing investigation and was assisted by the Corbin Police Department, the Corbin Fire Department, Whitley County EMS, Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley, DCBS personnel, and other Whitley County Sheriff deputies.
