DRIVER CHARGED AFTER TWO-VEHICLE COLLISION WITH SERIOUS INJURIES ON HIGHWAY 3439 IN KNOX COUNTY, KENTUCKY

KNOX COUNTY, KY - The Knox County Sheriff's Department is reporting that: At approximately 12:59 PM on Thursday, September 28, 2023, multiple first responders arrived on scene at a two-vehicle collision on Highway 3439 involving a dark blue Dodge pickup truck and a silver 4-door Pontiac G6.

Lt. Sam Mullins reports that the pickup truck, driven by 39-year-old Arthur Vaughn was traveling southbound on Hwy 3439 when it lost control striking the northbound Pontiac head-on causing severe damage to both vehicles.

While Vaughn was able to exit his vehicle, the female driver of the Pontiac had to be extricated by the Barbourville Fire Department.

Both Vaughn and the female patient were taken to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

At the time of this press release on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 11:43 AM, the female patient was still in critical condition at UK Hospital in Lexington and Arthur Vaughn was still at Barbourville ARH.

Lt. Mullins has charged Arthur Vaughn with:

  • DUI
  • No registration
  • Failure to maintain insurance

Due to being treated for his injuries, Vaughn has been cited to court.
