Deputies Arrest Two Subjects during an Early Morning Investigation at a Memorial Park in Leslie County, Kentucky

HYDEN, KY - According to the Leslie County Sheriff’s Office: On Friday, October 13, 2023 at approximately 12:20 AM Deputy James Begley was patrolling Greg Wells Road when he noticed a black GMC Sierra parked at the Leeco Firefighters Memorial Park.

Deputy Begley made contact with the individuals who identified themselves as Jimmy Simpson and Amber Sizemore. Deputy Begley ask Simpson to step out of the vehicle and asked him to step to the back of the patrol vehicle where he began to question him about his identity.

Chief Deputy Shane Wilson arrived on scene and asked Sizemore to step out of the vehicle. Chief Deputy Wilson recognized this female as Keleigh Bronson, not Amber Sizemore.

Deputies were aware the female had an active warrant. While being questioned Simpson advised Chief Deputy Wilson that he was in possession of a handgun located inside the truck between the driver seat and the center seat.

Chief Deputy Wilson recovered the handgun and verified it wasn’t stolen.

Jimmy Simpson was charged with:

  • Possession of firearm by Convicted Felon

Keleigh Bronson was charged with:

  • Failure to appear

Both individuals were lodged in the Leslie County Detention Center.
