BARBOURVILLE, KY - The Knox County Sheriff's Department reports that on Friday, October 6, 2023, a Knox County man wanted on a Fugitive Warrant regarding child porn charges in Georgia was taken into custody.
Knox County Deputy Jesse Smith along with agents from the U.S. Marshals Service located and arrested Ricky Gray age 38 of Gray, Kentucky.
After being taken into custody, Gray was transported to the Knox County Detention Center.
Gray, who was wanted in Augusta, Georgia charged on six (6) counts of Child Pornography had made his way back to Kentucky in a possible attempt to avoid prosecution on the charges in Augusta.
This is not Ricky Gray's first arrest in connection to child porn, Gray, now age 38 was arrested in August of 2016 at a public library in Somerset, Kentucky on a child porn charge.
A published article in the Commonwealth Journal reports that, according to SPD, Det. Larry Patterson arrived on the scene in plain clothes and observed Gray viewing an image of a naked young male that appeared to be less than 12 years of age.
Also, the same Commonwealth Journal article reports that, at the time of the incident, Gray was on release from the halfway house section of the Pulaski County Detention Center as a federal prisoner facing other child pornography charges.
In this latest arrest, Ricky Gray was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center to await extradition back to the state of Georgia.
